After last year’s success, TENCEL™ proud to have once again been part of the finale of FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week 2021 in India. With sustainability becoming a fashion mainstream, we are honored to collaborate with acclaimed designer, Rajesh Pratap Singh to introduce a colorful and sustainable collection titled ‘The Master’s Words’ under the Satya Paul brand. ‘The Master’s Words’ paid tribute to the late Satya Paul who passed away earlier this year and launched the sustainable collection by using the revolutionary carbon-zero TENCEL™ branded fibers.

As a designer, Satya Paul was an artist extraordinaire, who has championed sustainability over the years and experimented with a range of fabrics to redefine traditional Indian fashion. Having been with the Satya Paul brand, Rajesh Pratap Singh has always followed sustainability in his own work and strived to make the brand more contemporary and sustainable. TENCEL™ brand is on a journey to true carbon zero and is delighted to engage with like-minded partners. We are pleased to introduce the first Indian collection made from carbon-zero TENCEL™ fibers, allowing consumers to explore the frontier of aesthetic appeal and addressing the growing demand around circular fashion and carbon neutrality.

The showcase featuring ‘The Master’s Words’ collection and the film ‘The Search’ was a mix of fashion, theatre, and film and sought to take the audience on a journey through different mediums. The show began with the film ‘The Search’, directed and creatively put together by Rahul Bose. The runway transformed into a theatre where the models got into a bubble of a retro living room, while some were reading, some were dancing and some were transported into a trance-like world. Rajesh Pratap Singh kept the ethos of the Satya Paul style with athleisure, dance tracks and a visual reverence of70’s and 80’s looks in the collection. Rajesh was also inspired by Satya Paul’s love for calligraphy, which appeared on Mr. Paul’s walls along with quotes from poets like Rumi and Osho. Simple words like ‘love’, appeared in modern typography to encompass these zippy memories. Bringing in some of the practical styles for dresses, trousers, and shirts, which were made from carbon-zero TENCEL™ fibers the look was relaxed but contemporary.

Speaking on the collaboration, Rajesh Pratap Singh said, “This collection is a burst of optimism at a time of global volatility. ‘The Master's Words’ threads together the past and present in 2021, where we take this journey to the next level by prioritizing sustainable design, as we work with cleaner fabrics from TENCEL™ that are gentle on the earth. “

It is our honor to co-present ‘The Master’s Words’ at FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week 2021 in India, as an ode to the late Satya Paul and a breakthrough in sustainable fashion.
