Lenzing’s groundbreaking carbon-zero TENCEL™ branded lyocell fibers are making waves across the textile industry, including the home and interior segment. Recently, Jacaranda, a UK-based luxury carpet and rugs brand, launched the world’s first collection of handwoven carpets and rugs made from 100% true carbon-zero TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers to boost the sustainability standard of home furnishings and decorations.
Named “Seoni”, the new carpet and rugs collection showcases subtle linear hand-woven texture using carbon-zero TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers. In addition to enhancing the collection’s sustainability profile, the functional benefits of standard TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers are retained. Qualities such as efficient dye uptake of TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers helped create the diverse palette of fresh new tones. In contrast to wool, TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers also allow heat to pass through, a property that makes them ideal for underfloor heating.
Carbon-zero TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers were launched 2 years ago and have since been certified as carbon neutral*. They were developed based on three environmental pillars:
"For 30 years, the TENCEL™ brand has been committed to developing eco-friendly fibers that are not only good for people but also for the planet. Aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, TENCEL™’s ‘True Carbon Zero’ journey to becoming carbon zero by 2050 perfectly matches Jacaranda’s own sustainability initiatives. We are honored to take another step towards a net zero future with Jacaranda and revolutionize the sustainable development of the modern carpet and rugs industry together.” said Ebru Bayramoglu, Head of Global Business Development, Lenzing Group.
As an eco-conscious brand, Jacaranda strives to become net zero by 2040 as part of its pledge to United Nation’s ‘Race to Zero’ initiative. The brand firmly believes sustainability must play a key role in the carpet and rugs industry.
Lucy and Richard Meager, Managing Directors at Jacaranda said, “Companies must start to look at sustainability through the entire product life cycle from the creation of materials to each subsequent stage of manufacturing, transportation, product use, and ultimately disposal. We see the move to incorporating sustainable and biodegradable fibers as a key development in the industry and by hand-weaving innovative carbon-zero TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers into our products, we are advancing our commitment to the use of eco-friendly materials.”
The Seoni carpet and rugs collection comes in 12 stylish pastel shades, ranging from classic neutrals to bolder blues and greens, suited to luxury high-end residential projects and available from over 40 countries across the world.
