Reinaldo Lourenço unveils the first sustainable collection with TENCEL™ and Canatiba Textil

The sustainable fashion market is experiencing substantial growth, fueled in part by brands investing in solutions that benefit the environment. In line with this trend, renowned fashion designer Reinaldo Lourenço has teamed up with TENCEL™, flagship textile brand of the Lenzing Group, the global leader for fiber production with low environmental impact, and denim mill CanatibaTextil, to launch its first capsule collection in jeanswear with the planet in mind.

Each piece in the collection is meticulously crafted using tailoring techniques and the Everest Maxskin fabric from Canatiba Textil made of TENCEL™ branded lyocell fibers. These fibers are produced with at least 50% less carbon emissions and water consumption compared to generic lyocell[1]. The collection includes a pair of pants, a dress, a top, a shirt, and shorts, all bearing the designer's distinctive touch. These versatile pieces effortlessly transition from everyday wear to special occasions.

“It's crucial for me to incorporate sustainable materials that offer superior quality in terms of touch, weight, and fit into this collection," said the designer, “I'm delighted to work with high-quality fabrics from esteemed denim mill Canatiba Textil made of TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers, which significantly enhance the final outcome of each piece in the collection.”

The Lenzing Group, a leading global producer of wood-based specialty fibers, has been driving highly responsible practices within the textile value chain through strategic partnerships with spinning mills, fabric manufacturers and brands that prioritize the environment. TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers are naturally soft and smooth to the touch with high color fastness, in addition to being certified as biodegradable and compostable[2].

“Sustainability is a journey, and every step we take matters,” said Juliana Jabour, Business Development Manager South America at the Lenzing Group, “We are dedicated to ensuring every decision - from choice of materials to production process - contributes to minimizing our environmental impact. Collaborating with like-minded and inspiring partners such as Canatiba Textil and Reinaldo Lourenço allows us to progress in harmony with nature.”

“It is incredibly rewarding to see our sustainable fabrics interpreted through the unique lens of a designer brand like Reinaldo Lourenço. The fashion language they bring to our materials always offers delightful surprises. For this collection, the fabric chosen is the indigo version of Everest Maxskin,” said Ivna Barreto, Marketing Manager at Canatiba Textil.

The Reinaldo Lourenço capsule collection in partnership with TENCEL™ and Canatiba Textil will be available for sale online from 15 August onward, in the designer's stores in São Paulo and multi-brand retail stores across Brazil.
